RUNNING
Nothing beats the time efficiency of running. Running starts the minute we hit the pavement and only stops when we have arrived back to our doorsteps. Most of us skip even the recommended five minutes stretching, though we vow not to each year as a New Year's resolution. New York City offers many wonderful and varied routes for runners: the four-plus miles of bridle path, 1.57-mile reservoir loop, and the 6.1-mile Central Park loop. There are miles of Greenway lining the East River on the east side of Manhattan and the Hudson on the west. Here we list running groups and direct you to maps, gear, and trainers who can show you the park and an as-yet-unattained peak performance.
Yorkville
Yorkville is the slightly lackluster residential neighborhood, formerly of the working class. At this point with Manhattan real estate what it is, the working class bus themselves in from the outer boroughs and neighboring states. The area runs from 79th to 96th Street east of Third Avenue. Here you will find the practical and mundane: high-rise housing, dry cleaners, supermarkets, drug stores, and video rental shops. You will also find the little gem: Gracie Mansion, the official home of the mayor of New York--though not our current mayor who maintains his own larger jewel further southwest.
